About Active Services

Active Services have been Property Preservation Specialists since 1986, covering Devon and Cornwall and undertaking work on residential and all types of commercial, listed buildings and properties of particular architectural merit.

Of necessity some of our treatments include chemicals and some work involves structural alterations.

Active Services carry Public, Employer's Liability and Contractors all risk insurance.

TRADE ASSOCIATION

Active Services has achieved FULL membership of the most prestigious trade association within the remedial industry.

Long-term member of the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association (BWPDA) now the Property Care Association (PCA). The PCA is the premier trade body for the structural waterproofing, wood preservation, damp proofing, flood remediation and structural maintenance industries in the UK. To gain membership all surveyors have to achieve CSRT qualification.

This is examined by the Institute of Wood Science ensuring full understanding of building defects and the correct method of repair.

Regular checks are also made to ensure our business is being run in the correct manner.

When choosing a member of the PCA you can be certain that we have undergone rigorous checks to achieve our membership.

An expert assessor with a wealth of experience and technical knowledge has audited Active Services and checked the quality of our work on site.

Trustmark is the Government backed initiative to help consumers find reliable and trustworthy tradesmen to carry out repairs inside and outside the home.

Every firm's technical skills have been independently checked through on-site inspections, the quality of work, trading practices and customer satisfaction monitored and checks made on trading records and financial status.

GUARANTEES

We provide a non-insurance backed guarantee on our remedial free of charge for 5 years from completion. Optional insurance backed guarantees can be purchased, costs will be given on the quotation within our report.

As members of the PCA we are able to offer the QANW guarantee system for our work.

The QANW is a completely independent freestanding trust fund, not linked to the performance of any company.

These guarantees give you the assurance that should anything happen your guarantee will remain in force.

SURVEY AND REPORT

Once you have called us in, we will undertake a subsidised cost inspection of your property.

Our reports will be based on such things as damp meter readings, woodboring beetle infestation, wet rot, dry rot, other areas of water ingress and concrete defects.

On completion of the inspection we will telephone you with our initial findings and discuss any matters with you.

Shortly afterwards you will receive a written report.

The fee paid ensures that you have a qualified surveyor reporting where there are problems, but, also most important, where there are not.

A surveyor - not a salesman.

IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATIONS

It may be evident that your property, after consultation with yourselves, requires an in-depth investigation of a more technical nature. This may include laboratory analysis of concrete and plaster samples, checking for hidden defects with endoscopes and deep probes.

If this investigation is needed the fee will be arranged individually.

USE OF SUB CONTRACTORS

We may use Subcontractors for specific aspects of the work to be completed.

A WORD ABOUT COSTS

Fixed price quotations can be given for all areas of our work, except for Dry Rot which will need an in depth investigation prior to a fixed price. Whatever the job you wish us to do, you will find that we offer a highly competitive price and are always happy to discuss this aspect fully with you without obligation.
